Funny Faces

I met my goal of getting our Christmas pictures and four Christmas blog posts completed before the end of 2009! Here are a few funny faces to end 2009! This was a pretty good year but we are excited for all that 2010 will bring...

Jamey and Addy rocking away while we prepared to watch the Griz play in the Championship game in Chattanooga a few weeks ago.

Griz fans! We were sad to watch them lose the game but glad they had such a good season!

The little rascal and her "scowl" face

Poor Bailey has had "friends" sleep in her kennel with her lately, there were so many in there one day I couldn't tell if Bailey was really in there underneath all of them!

Caught you!

Yes, she is almost two and she is full of it! We can't believe how much she has grown in the past year and we love being her parents!

Christmas Celebrations--Maxwell House in Darby

On Christmas evening, after spending time with my mom, stepdad, sister and her fiance, we loaded up the vehicle and drove down to Darby to spend the night at Jamey's parents house. We watched Adalyn and her cousin Brenna play for a while before bed. The next morning, we opened stockings and watched the girls open gifts and we all had fun playing with their new presents. Then the adults had a white elephant/gift card exchange. It was fun to see what kind of gifts everyone came up with. Later in the afternoon, we had a great taco lunch before heading home. It was a very fun and busy Christmas holiday for us but we are so glad we were able to spend time with everyone and enjoy Adalyn's second Christmas!

Adalyn and her cousin Brenna loved getting rides from everyone in this box!

Who needs toys? A cardboard box is so entertaining :)

Adalyn loved finding an orange in her stocking!

Christmas Celebrations--Beree House

On Christmas Day, after Addy took her nap, we loaded up the rest of the vehicle and headed over to my mom's and stepdad's to spend Christmas with them. We had a blast opening gifts and playing with Adalyn's new things. Then we enjoyed a delicious dinner of shrimp fettuccine and visited a bit. After that, we loaded up the vehicle again to drive to Darby to see Jamey's family.

She loves candy canes, but mostly uses them as drum sticks!

Christmas Eve and Morning

We visited my Grandma Dolly on Christmas Eve Day and made a quick trip to my mom's to drop off gifts for Christmas Day, as we knew we would have a packed vehicle on Christmas morning. We had a relaxed evening and Jamey made a delicious meal of lobster tail, crab legs, asparagus and broccoli slaw and garlic mashed potatoes. It was so delicious. I am lucky Jamey loves to cook because I really don't (I do like to eat though :) Adalyn opened one early present from us and we read Christmas books before bed. On Christmas morning, just the three of us woke up and opened gifts. It was just as exciting for Jamey and I to see Adalyn open her stockings and see her gifts as it was for her! Adalyn wanted to play with each gift she saw or opened so she took a break to play while Jamey and I opened our stockings and gifts to each other :) Addy really liked her gifts from Santa and mommy and daddy but she got tired so we ate some french toast, gave her a bath and then she took a nap before we left to celebrate Christmas at my mom's and stepdad's house. Addy even had two gifts she didn't have a chance to open so she opened them the next day when we got home from Jamey's parents.

Christmas Celebrations--Gould House

We have a lot of family celebrations to enjoy during the Christmas holiday. On Sunday, December 20th, we went to celebrate at my dad and stepmom's house in Frenchtown. Adalyn was excited to open her first gifts of the holiday. After presents, we ate a yummy traditional meal and had a white elephant gift exchange for the adults. We had a fun time!

Adalyn's visit with Santa--Getting ready for Christmas!

Yesterday we took Adalyn to the mall to sit on Santa's lap. She was very excited! I reminded her before her nap yesterday that we were going to see him last night and she spent a lot of time in her crib talking to her stuffed animals about seeing Santa before she fell asleep.
We briefly saw him in November during his arrival at the mall. They gave away milk and cookies to everyone and had a mini concert by the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. All the kids got a little gift bag with a gingerbread book and cookie cutters. Adalyn has requested we read it many times. She loves the candy part the best! Ever since she saw him before, she kept talking about seeing "Big Santa" at the mall. Then we told her about being good and getting presents from Santa. Now it is "Big Santa bring presents" and "Santa coming to town" that we hear all the time.

She wore her pretty holiday dress yesterday and ran to him when it was her turn. She had a huge grin on her face. When she sat on his lap, she was more in awe than anything. She smiled a little at the camera but kept looking at him like she couldn't believe she was actually sitting with him. She is definitely not afraid of Santa! We have read a Rudolf book with her regular books throughout the past year and she always points out Santa and the little Santa toy from her toy box so I think that helped her be more familiar with him before the Christmas season arrived. After the visit, she was so proud of the candy cane he gave her and she raced through the mall talking about it. We had to hustle to keep up with her since she wanted to run ahead of us!

She has been "helping" me wrap presents for other people and she is pretty excited about it all. We've talked about some of the religious meanings of Christmas but I think she'll be a bit older before she can grasp that. She loves Christmas music and can recognize songs I have sung to her or she has heard elsewhere when she hears them on the radio. She has played with a Little People Little Drummer Boy set at Grandma Jill's and when she hears that song come on its "song like at Grandmas." "Silent Night" is "song mommy sings in mine crib" and always makes her think it is time for bed. She talks a lot already and even more now with all the excitement :)

Update on Twenty-Ten

Yesterday we had our 30-week ultrasound appointment for little Twenty-Ten. We are still working on names :) Our little GIRL looks great! Yes, I asked the doctor to confirm since we have bought a few girlie things since our last ultrasound. We didn't have a very good view the last time since she was in the head-up position with her feet curled up. She is now in a head-down position so we had a better view. Hopefully she will stay in the head-down position until delivery. I was pretty sure she had changed positions because I've been feeling more pressure and backaches and an occasional jab in the ribs which I was quite certain were little feet!

She is measuring perhaps a little bigger or further ahead than our original due date but I'm still going with our due date of February 15th. Adalyn arrived about 2 days after her due date. Either way, February is quickly approaching! It is hard to believe in just two months we'll be meeting this little one.

Jamey and Adalyn have come to every appointment with me and my sister Dana joined us this time for the ultrasound appointment. She thought is was really neat to see her new niece! Adalyn sits on Jamey's lap and eats snacks during the appointments. The background noise is Adalyn saying "yum, yum, tastes good" as she eats fruit snacks. She just talks and sings the whole time. It is pretty funny. Yesterday she was "singing" Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the ABC's. She does recognize the baby on the screen and says "baby on there" without anyone telling her first. We have been looking at pictures of her when she was a newborn so now she thinks every picture of a baby is of her, "baby Adalyn, me!" She really seems to understand quite a lot about the baby for her age. She puts her hands on my tummy to feel the baby and asks "baby come out?" so I tell her in a few months, after Christmas and after her birthday. She does seem to think the baby will be playing with her when she arrives so we try to talk about what the baby will really be doing in her first months :)

Over the last few weeks, I have taken the gestational diabetes test and received my Rhogam shot. I have to get the Rhogam shot because my blood type is A negative, so the RH factor of my blood is negative. If a pregnant woman with negative RH factor has a baby with positive blood type, it can create complications for future babies. I'll have to get another shot after delivery if this baby has positive blood type also, as I did with Adalyn.

I also got the news that there are visitor restrictions in place at the hospital due to H1N1 concerns. As of two weeks ago, the only person allowed in with the mother and baby is the baby's father. This applies to delivery and recovery visiting. It has been breaking my heart to know that Adalyn cannot come to the hospital to see me and her new sister. I have never spent one night away from her and it is very sad for me to know I won't be able to see her except maybe through a glass window. No other family members will be allowed to see the baby either, except through the glass window. It is very hard to imagine since Adalyn's grandparents and aunts and uncles were able to see and hold her within an hour or two of her birth. We'll have to see if these restrictions change in the next few months. Unfortunately, by that time, the regular flu season will probably be in full swing so they'll want to restrict visitors for that as well.
We got some more photos of our little one and I will post them when we get a chance to take a photo of them.

Overdue Update!

I am way behind on updates on here again! I need to catch up so this post has pics from the Fall Family Fest on October 24th, my birthday on the 25th, pumpkin carving, and Hallloween.

We went to a pet Halloween costume contest at Quality Supply in the morning and then to the Fall Family Fest at McCormick Park on October 24th. The pet contest was really cute, we saw a llama dressed as a scarecrow and a dog in a very elaborate bumblebee costume to name a few. Adalyn was a big fan of animals dressed up. Next year we might come up with a costume for Bailey! At the Family Fest, we tried freshly pressed apple cider, made s'mores, and went on a hayride. Dana and Justin joined us at both events.

Roasting marshmallows for s'mores...Adalyn wanted to do it all by herself of course!

She loved the hayride!

Like father, like daughter :)

4 little flying witches!

Celebrating my birthday with party hats!

Heading out for a birthday dinner, 24 week belly :)

My silly little girl!

Carving pumpkins! Adalyn liked scooping the pumpkin "insides" and trying to poke the designs in the pumpkin

Halloween! Little Dorothy is ready to go trick-or-treating! We had a little party and everyone came over and went trick-or-treating with us in our neighborhood. Adalyn loved getting a bucket of candy! She didn't get to eat too much of it but her absolute favorite treat right now is a lollipop. She couldn't wait so sit down and enjoy one when we got home. She also loved when we got trick-or-treaters at our house, she would run to the door and yell "kids!" and had to see their costumes.

Wizard of Oz with the cowardly lion, scarecrow, Dorothy and Toto in the basket and a creepy zombie wizard in the background...

The biker gang couple, gotta love that 'stache!

First Swim Lessons

Adalyn started her first parent-toddler swim classes this week at Currents Aquatic Center. This class is designed to introduce toddlers to safe water practices and the foundation for additional swim classes in the future. Adalyn seems to like the classes for the most part, but she gets really shy around the instructor. This class only had three toddlers signed up and just one other toddler came on the first day and only Adalyn was there for the second class. She doesn't like all of the attention on her :) She really likes to practice things with Jamey. Her favorite thing is to jump in the pool to Jamey when she has her floaty on. She also really likes playing in the splash fountains before the class starts. She looks so grown up out in the pool! I come and watch the classes but I am kind of a distraction when Adalyn sees me, she says "miss mommy," because she misses me and wants to come over by me. We have four more classes to attend. She does get really excited about going and likes to talk about swimming being fun and she's "essited" (excited) to go.
